PawsNearMe is a community app for dog owners. It helps you find safe walking routes, discover nearby dogs and events, track your walks and your dog's health, and connect with other owners in your area — all in one place.
That's right — PawsNearMe is invite-only during our initial launch. You'll need an invite code from someone who's already on the app. They can share it as a code you type in, or as a link you tap to get started automatically.
This keeps the community trusted and safe. Once you're in, you'll get your own code to invite friends.
We're growing through word of mouth — ask around at your local dog park, vet clinic, or breed community. You can also follow us on social media where existing members sometimes share invite codes.
Yes! PawsNearMe is completely free to use right now. We may introduce optional paid features in the future, but the core experience — walks, health tracking, community, and safety alerts — will always be free.
PawsNearMe is available on iOS (iPhone) right now. An Android version is on the way — join our mailing list to be the first to know when it launches.
Absolutely. You can add as many dogs as you like to your profile. Each dog has their own profile with breed info, health records, vaccination history, and a social life of their own.
Verification means someone in the community has vouched for you by accepting a friend request from your dog. It's a trust chain — each verified user can bring in new people, and those people become verified when an existing member accepts their dog's friend request.
Until you're verified, you can only see the dogs belonging to the person who invited you. This encourages you to connect with your inviter first. Once they accept your dog's friend request, you're verified and the full community opens up.
Send a friend request to your inviter's dog (they'll be the only one visible when you first join). When they accept, you're automatically verified. No forms, no waiting, no ID uploads.
Yes! Once verified, you'll find your invite code in Settings → Invite Friends. Share it as a code or a link — there's no limit on how many people you can invite.
Start a walk and the app records your route, distance, duration, and steps. Along the way you can log interactions, report hazards, and track bathroom breaks. When you're done, you get a full walk summary.
Anyone can report hazards — broken glass, aggressive off-lead dogs, mud patches, or wildlife. When one is reported near you, you get a push notification so you can avoid the area.
Yes — log medications, vaccinations, vet visits, weight, symptoms, meals, water, heat cycles, and more. Set reminders so you never miss a dose or appointment. Shared with family members if you choose.
Map-based hubs centred around popular dog-walking spots. Members can post updates, organise events, and see stats like peak times and popular hours.
Playdates, group walks, training sessions, or meet-ups. Set a location, invite people, or make it open for your area. Invited users get a push notification and can RSVP directly.
Multiple people can share access to the same dogs. Everyone in a family can log events, start walks, and see the same health records. Create a family with a join code that others use to hop in.
Your live location is only visible during an active walk — and only to nearby users. When you finish, you disappear. Turn on Ghost Mode to hide entirely, even during walks.
Your home location is never displayed to other users. If you set one, it's randomly offset by at least 500 metres. It's only used for personalised notifications and is never shown on a map or in search.
Yes. Set map visibility and search visibility independently — to everyone, friends only, or no one. Plus Ghost Mode for location hiding while walking.
Blocking is mutual and comprehensive. You're completely hidden from each other — location, dogs, posts, events, and comments all disappear. Existing dog friendships are automatically removed.
Yes. Delete your account from Settings. This removes your profile, all dogs (unless a family member co-owns them), walk history, events, and all data. Cannot be undone.
Yes! When a family adds you as a walker, you get access to their dogs with walker-specific permissions. You can start walks, log events, and owners get real-time notifications.
The family shares their join code. When you join, select the "Walker" role. You'll get walker-level access — enough to start walks and log events, but the family retains ownership.
Owners get notified when you start and complete a walk. They can tap the notification to view the full route and any events logged during the walk.
